Surprisingly, the process went better than I thought. I did not want to make improvements on the home. I inherited it from my mom who died and I never lived in the home, so I wanted to find someone that could actually sell the home for me or flip it, whatever. I was very pleased with the process and how it went.
I actually found Steve, they sent a mailing. My mom died in September of 2022, and I got a mailing a few months later asking if we were interested in selling the home. And at that point, I wasn’t quite ready yet because of a family member that was living in the home. But I did keep their mailing and it was from A House Full of Cash and I just kept the mailing. I contacted Steve and he asked me a few questions over the phone. He said, “Can you describe the home?” He asked me my zip code, which was very important. Because I understand in the city of Detroit, there may be areas that someone may not want to invest in. But I’m in an area or the house is in an area where they were interested.
So Steve came out. I walked him through the house, and he more or less confirmed what I had said. I was very candid with him because I did not want to deceive anybody with regards to the house. So Steve, we talked. I let him know that I wasn’t in for playing games. I let him know exactly what I was looking for. As far as I was concerned, he gave me a realistic offer, and I knew that because I had done some research beforehand. I already had in my mind how much I would be willing to sell the home for. And lo and behold, Steve came in at that.
He also recommended the title company, and I was glad because I was selling it as is as an owner. I wasn’t going to an agent. So it was really nice to be able to have a title company. Because I knew I’d have to shop for one if he hadn’t done that, but the bottom line is the title company was good. Steve was very helpful. Any questions or concerns that I had, he answered them. And it sort of redeemed my faith because you think of what they call flippers, and I was concerned about that, but that wasn’t what I experienced.
